We holidayed on the Greek islands during the summer.

My son Dara enjoying chasing his shadow around the windmil at Parikia town on the island of Paros.

In the second photo passengers leaving a ferry at Parikia harbour, Paros stop to admire the sunset.

The third photo shows the famous Meltami wind blowing up in Mykonos town on Mykonos Island.

Proud and defiant, towering over the mist of the Purbeck Hills, Dorset’s Corfe Castle steadfastly resisted the Parliamentarians under the leadership of the virtuous Lady Bankes during the English Civil War.

Tragically its seemingly impregnable walls eventually fell – but only after dark betrayal from within Lady Bankes’ own entourage…

Today there is no ‘king of the castle’, but enthroned amidst the ruins one might catch a glimpse of a little princess, a picture of innocence, blissfully unaware of the bloodthirsty events that the stones once bore witness to.

Look carefully and you will see deer roaming, birds flying in a safe paradise. Look at the pitures and plan your next getaway.

We had a week’s holiday in Devon this August, consisting of rain, rain and more rain. The final evening the sun came out for about one hour, so we made the most of it and drove down to the beach at Instow to get some lungfulls of the warm sunset air. The wind had blown up strongly and a lone paraglider was battling against the waves, so I caught a shot against the evening sun and the threatening sky!
